not-Quarrel's bit is in the Supreme Genesis 2 section. He was born initially from Mark Fugate's contest entry but since we have too many crossbows in the game, we need an archer!

Hey, since this is a contest, the winner of the best name (me and Mark will have a chat over the list), gets the box with Quarrel and his partner Riposte.

On contemplation, and given not-Quarrel's background, I think the foreign language thing was too easy...

Two names come to mind.

1) Affray - a synonym of 'quarrel', and with phonological conjurations of afar and away.

2) Flurry - a quick succession, suggesting alacrity and dexterity. Also listed as a synonym of 'quarrel' via 'fuss'.

Uh... constructing names... so I throw in one:

Evenger

Ok, but why?

Answer:

Evenger is a word construction of:

Evann - bretonian name, based on the word "iwa" which stood for yew, or Arrows made of the wood of the yew tree. Besides that... maybe it is this supremes real name?

Avenger - maybe there is an unsettled debt?

Besides that, I think it has a good sound...

Eeeeee-venger! Coming for you... and all you hear is the "tunk"-sound when the arrow hits your chest.

Et pourquoi pas "Flèche"? (Why not arrow?)

French word for arrow of course.

As it can sounds a bit "exotic" in a comic world and can quickly becomes "Flèche Gordon" to mimic a famous one

Since the Eastern Supremes are about to arrive, why not go for something Asian-themed?

Yumi - Japanese for Bow.

Hankyu - Japanese for Short Bow

Daikyu - Japanese for Long Bow

Ite (ee-tay) - Japanese for Archer.

There are some great ideas above, but many seem to be a reference to his weapons of choice. When I read the entry, I don't think the weapon is what defines this character.

What we have is a young vigilante who uses a bow (now) but it's just a tool. Just as he tracked down his parent's killers, there's a difference between his weapon and his purpose.

My suggestion: He's The Reckoning.

Why? A reckoning is the avenging and punishment of past crimes. In addition, as his partner is a master tactician, a reckoning can also be the process of caclulating or estimating. The name represents both of his goals, not just to punish the guilty, but also to learn from his mentor how to develop his own tactical insights.

First, my daughter wants to buy the socks that the METEOR girl is wearing :)

As for names, not sure what direction to go in, would have to be based on faction I guess.

The Huntsman
Split Shot
Unjaku (jap., skylark)
Juomyung (Korean, name of ancient king who was a godlike archer)
Nightsight
The Returning Arrow (ancient ninja creed based on one mythical origin story)
Robin the Hood
Commander Kiley :)
Blind Arrow
Pointman
The phantom archer
