Post subject:  First couple of games played

Played my first two games this week - really ennjoyed both - but a couple of rules questions.

1. If a model is in base to base and it moves away - its opponent gets a free strike - can it move around its opponent, as long as it stays in BTB (ie in order to hit another model with a ray)? _ we assumed yes

2. if shooting at a model in BTB with an opponent, if you roll a 1 you hit your own teammate. Can you use a trump re-roll on this - or does the 1 always stand?

Also one other comment - 10 damage to take super damage (7 for hitting with an object) - seems like a lot - 10 damage will cripple most supers anyhow - and knocking supers back seems very in keeping with the game theme - has anyone ever reduced this (to say 7 and 5) in games?

Some models have Super Damage (7) or lower to help with this. I agree that it's hard, but at the same time, we didn't want people being thrown out of combat every time.

In the end, it was a fine line to walk and I think the team did a great job on it.

Yes you can move around a models base while staying in BtB. That's perfectly legal.

As for the shooting a couple of things to keep in mind. If you have an :ENG Trump you never randomize. Precision takes care of that and any ranged penalties for shooting into and out of combat.

Now remember also that Trump re-rolls are NOT a re-roll. When you trump you roll two d6 and take only the result of the higher die. Trumps must be declared before the die are rolled. So basically the situation you seem to be describing simply can't happen. Due to the way Trumps work and due to any one who could Trump an :ENG roll would benefit from the Precision Trump power.

It was one of the things that changed from the online game guide to the printed rulebook. So if you're using the game guide, Beermonkey's answer won't make much sense!

While true he also mentioned the Super Damage rule which was new in the Rulebook. So I wasn't too worried about it.

Speaking of Super Damage I think it's a cool rule. Doesn't happen often but a really neat effect when you can get.
