Turn 1

Chimp Chi leaps into action using a See-No-Evil strike on the nearest citizen. He then becomes burdened with the objective and drags it off towards the relative safety of the dumpster behind 8-Ball's Auto Shop. Dr Manhattan moves forward to protect the nearest citizen. He attempts the Secret Sign without success on the panic-stricken citizen...
Image

Meanwhile, around the other side of 8-Ball's Auto Shop, Silverager attempts to rescue a citizen that is Trapped in Wreckage... Without success.
Image

Le Murtiple sprints forward down both flanks. His mirror images taking refuge behind some porta loos in the open space near The Palace Theatre, and the other behind the Bank of Liberty. The real Le Murty stays out front of 8-Ball's awaiting Chimp Chi's return. Ozymandias reacts to Le Murtiples advance by outrunning gravity to take up a position on the roof of the Post Office.

It was at this moment that Virus unleashed Apebot on Main Street. The rampaging construct spotted some puny citizens near the park, who had been admiring his teething ring. His anger rising, he attempted to launch a police interceptor onto the paramedic. His aim was a little off and it landed short, narrowly missing a troublesome youth.
Image

The Comedian urged his minions forward to intercept the rampaging construct. The Comedian then targetted Tinman with a few wisecracks and then raced forward passed another police cruiser on Main Street.
Image

Dr Red then scored some AGP by rescuing the other Trapped in Wreckage citizen. He later moved forward to check the weapon crate he had stored earlier that day, only to find it empty. In frustration he lobbed an Explosive onto the roof of 8-Ball's.
Image

Nite Owl sprang into action late in the round, in an attempt to prevent Chimp Chi making off with the objective. Her Predator's Charge off the roof of 8-Ball's was spectacular and heroic as she launched herself into the middle of the Ape Attack. Chimp Chi responded with an Ape Ki Strike - See-No-Evil style.
Image

Rorschach inched forward cautiously into the park, watching the mayhem unfold before his hooded face...

When do we see more? :)

BTW - the Quest token; look a bit like a Marvel Zodiac Key - any hints on what you used?

More to follow shortly Gentlemen. Sorry for the delay. Troubles with Photobucket you see. I promised Baskinders I'd do this report cause he smashed about 6 hours into the last two. Dragging my feet as usual. We have a dual side-by-side game this Saturday. Better get this report up. Thanks for the interest. Baskinders miniatures deserve the attention. Mad skills at painting.

Right on the money pulpcitizen, Zodiac Key it is! I'm a bit of a heroclix miniatures fan on the side. Best BOOM minions and Invasion forces ever!

Next installment shortly... Turn 2 to follow.

Any pointers as to where the Zodiac Key can be sourced (I am not a HC player so find it difficult to nail down what pieces are in what ranges etc.)?

Turn 2

Things were getting hectic outside 8-Ball's Autoshop... Apebot was keen to protect Chimp Chi. After all the ninja chimp had rescued his favourite teething ring. That crazy looking girl in the owl outfit would have to go. APEBOT CHARGE!
Image

The Comedian commands Tinman to advance. The metal woodsman, with a heart the size of Phar Lap (or insert the name of your country's favourite super racehourse of yesteryear), politely approches the giant construct and taps him gently on the back, with the handle of his axe, with a rat-a-tat-tat! Across the street, Ozymandias spots a Le Murtiple image lurking near the Bank of Liberty and he guides the Lion to attack... The Comedian provides encouragement. The Lion manages to overcome his fear and strikes down the defenseless Lema...
Image

Chimp Chi follows up the rather brutal Apebot attack on Nite Owl, with a lightning fast stroke of his katana, before slipping further away to safety...
It was at this point that Dr Red realises the folly of his perfect formed half-circle attack formation... The Comedian raised his beloved pistol and opened a can on the hapless apes...
Image

Meanwhile over in the park, Silverager bullies and harasses Dr Manhattan with his ill-gotten, rather revealing (must've been a cold day), full-frontal images of the good Doctor. Le Murtiple snuck further out from behind the nearby porta loos for a curious glance. Nearby, Dr Manhattan enjoys an unexpected rendezvous, with a very interesting citizen, a one handed lady of the night... She leaned in close, eyes gazing intently into his and she whispered deep, heart felt intentions, whilst signalling with her one good hand. He'd truly found what he was looking for...
Image

Dr Manhattan was hell bent on destroying the Blackmailers hold over him. He raced out of the park, headlong into the four armed giant silverback. During his flying attack leap, the doctor masterfully converted his own clentched fist into an Anvil shape with which to assail Silveragers face. Luckily his first target was only the Incriminating Evidence. Silverager narrowly avoided losing his photos and held them aloft in his outstretch mechanical arm. He suddenly grabbed the doctor, inverted him and delivered a shattering piledriver into the bitumen, face first!
Image

Over on Main Street, Ozymandias directs Lion back out of the alley. From his vantage point on the roof of the Post Office he continued to survey the battlefield. The Spectral Comedian held centre stage, taunting his nearby ape enemies from the middle of the street. Virus inched past Dr Red to perform an energy transfer to his favourite construct. Apebot crackled with supercharged electricity surging up the street before hoisting a police cruiser above his head and launching it into the park at Rorscach, adding a few additional red blotches to his face mask...

Turn 3

Dr Manhattan goes to work on Silverager after successfully Destroying Evidence. The Anvil scoring huge damage against the bionic silverback. Silverager's Rage points grow as his damage runs out.
Silk Spectre finally joins the fray (must've been doing her hair). Rorschach boosts her opposed rolls for the turn, sensing she could swing the battle in their favour. Her outrage rising, she launches a police car at Apebot, damaging the giant.
Image

Dr Red urges the Gore-illas to charge Lion. Iron clad fists, soon end the Lion's courageous change for the better.
The Spectral Comedian continues to taunt the surrounding apes.
Image

Meanwhile, down on Main Street... Thinking it's a game of catch, Apebot leisurely flings the police interceptor back at the very surprised Silk Spectre. At that moment from across the street, the troublesome youth (singing a catchy tune) pulls out a powerful gun and settles an old score with Silk Spectre.
Ozymandias drops from his high perch and charges Ape-Up (one of the Gore-illas). Ozymandias eliminates the minion in an act of cold blooded revenge for the loss of his favourite kitty. Le Murtiple runs across Main Street toward the Bank of Liberty and lobs a Minute Charge at Comedian. His other mirror image seeks shelter behind The Palace Theatre to avoid the titanic duel between Dr Manhattan and Silverager.
Image

Dr Red hustles down Main Street towards Silk Spectre. He leaves an explosive behind for the Comedian to enjoy later. He then moves further down the street and lobs an explosive at Silk Spectre's feet. Chimp Chi positions himself in front of 8-Ball's on Simian Cirlce. As the turn ends, Dr Red detonates the explosive under Silk Spectre. She is left clinging to her final damage point...

Turn 4

Virus gets the jump thanks to some smart mind work by Dr Red. He immediately adds another Repair to Apebot. He succeeds in stopping some of the more alarming, grinding noises coming from his chasis. Silk Spectre moves swiftly towards Apebot screaming in pain and rage, before ascending rapidly to a high altitude safely above Pulp City. Le Murtiple lobs a dud Minute Charge at Comedian.
Image

Dr Red Detonates another explosive he left beside Comedian. Having wounded the Comedian and gotten his attention, Dr Red moves off down Main Street away from 8-Ball's. Suddenly, Ozymandias rushes from the alley, in hot pursuit of the fleeing chimp.
Image

Dr Manhattan finishes off Silverager with a particularly cruel blow from his Anvil. He heads off in search of Chimp Chi whilst pondering the universe and life itself... He barely notices a panic stricken ape support minion just up ahead.
Image

Apebot launches himself into the middle of Main Street to head off Ozymandias. The Comedian watches nervously, protected for now by his Spectral state. Dr Red uses planning to move further down Main Street by the park and rolls another explosive under the tree beside Rorschach. Seeing an opening, Rorschach rushes towards the fallen Nite Owl. Virus retreats beside the dumpster for safety. Whilst Apebot powers up his Rampage program.
Image

Meanwhile, behind 8-Ball's Autoshop, Chimp Chi gathers the closest Triple-Threat Apes to support him. Le Murtiple moves in to cover his flank and provide additional support. The other mirror image sneaks out from behind The Palace Theatre, moving cautiously towards the fallen Silverager.

I actually shorted Felstorm with Harrier in turn 3 cause we both forgot that she should have been Shot Down after copping the car in the head from Apebot, which would have left her knocked down and all her AP spent, not a good place...

However, the story is much better with her in it still :)

Turn 5: The Penultimate Turn!

The penultimate turn commences with Apebot switching on Program: Rampage and smashing Ozymandias with a powered-up Strike. The still Spectral Comedian waits patiently for his opportunity to strike.
Image

Meanwhile, behind 8-Ball’s Autoshop, Chimp Chi gathers the nearby minions to form a protective wall of monkeys. Dr Manhattan is just around the corner…
Image

The Watchmen launch into action sensing their chances for victory fading. Rorscach moves to assist the fallen Nite Owl. He uses a First Aid Kit and Nite Owl is back on her feet.
Image

Dr Red rolls an explosive in-between Nite Owl and Rorschach. Nite Owl responds by leaping to the top of 8-Ball’s Autoshop. The Le Murtiple near The Palace Theatre, moves to harass Dr Manhattan and assist Silverager. The Saboteur administers a First Aid Kit reviving the big fella. Rorschach seeks a safer place to be when confronted by an explosive and the revived Silverager. He moves hastily towards the dumpster and out of harm’s way… or is he safe? Silverager runs out onto Main Street shaking his four fists at the soaring Silk Spectre and the retreating Rorschach. Ozymandias responds to the silverback arrival via his Police Scanner and makes a break for it. Unfortunately, Apebots Free Strike knocks the caped hero to the ground unconscious. Dr Manhattan repeatedly strikes the Saboteur but cannot harm the little Lemur.
Image

Silverager and Rorschach exchange pleasantries as things heat up!
Image

Dr Red inched closer towards 8-Ball’s and tossed a second explosive onto the roof. Silk Spectre descended with fury, grabbed a nearby drum and smashed Silverager over the head with it! The four armed giant toppled slowly and crashed to the ground, Incapacitated, for the second time in the battle. Apebot edged closer to Rorschach and pummelled him with his massive metal fists. Apebot was carefull to keep the still (yes, still) Spectral Comedian in his Aura of Pain.
Image

Eyeing the nearby explosive with concern, Silk Spectre glided easily to the roof of 8-Ball’s Autoshop, only to find two more waiting for her there. Her concern increased as she realised Nite Owl and a citizen were in the blast zone. She hardened her resolve to the task at hand. The ninja Chimp must be relieved of the Quest token and time was running out.
Image

Dr Manhattan, frustrated at not being able to finish off the diminutive Saboteur, races off ignoring the feeble free strike in his back. The blue giant rounds the corner of 8-Ball’s Autoshop to find the hastily assembled troop of monkeys. Despite several poop projectiles hitting him in the face, he prepared his anvil shaped hand for the unpleasant task ahead. Meanwhile, Dr Red commences the countdown to Ape-ageddon!

Turn 6 (The ultimate turn)

Just setting the scene…
Image

Dr Red, pushes the button (to the sound of Chemical Brothers - Galvanize)!!! The two explosives on the roof of 8-Ball’s Autoshop are detonated! Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are Incapacitated and the citizen is Eliminated. Thankfully the explosive near Dr Red isn’t set off in a chain reaction, cataclysmic Ape-aggedon!
Image

Rorschach approaches the troop on the footpath of Simian Circle. Using his brilliant mind powers he enslaves Chimp Chi as his one of his Pawns. Nearby the hulking construct shifts in Program: Rampage again!
Image

Rorschach first attempts to force Chimp Chi to Wall Crawler towards Dr Manhattan, without success (not enough room to place Chimp Chi’s base, beyond the minion)… and was repositioned closer to the Rorschach for easier punching access. Rorschach then disposed of Verny, one of the Triple-Threat Apes BOOM Minions… only to find a new mirror image of Le Murtiple appear in its place!!!
Image

Dr Red closes in on the Spectral Comedian and commands Ape-Down to move into base to base with the hero as well...
Image

In desperation, the Comedian moves to break out of the tightening circle of apes, to make a last ditch attempt at shooting Chimp Chi and changing the course of history. Unfortunately, the free strike from the Gore-illa minion, followed by a particularly devastating power-bomb suplex from Apebot, ended the Comedian’s heroic dash to freedom…
Image

Dr Manhattan exacts some vengeance on Bion, the tiny Triple-Threat Ape before sliding into contact with a Saboteur image. Chimp Chi takes a final Ape Ki Strike at Rorschach
Image

Dr Manhattan moves like an unstoppable force of science, smashing through the new mirror image Saboteur like a hot anvil through butter. He moves finally into base to base with the bearer of the Quest token and raises his anvil hand for one final blow… At that precise moment, Virus scrambles down Main Street and out onto Simian Circle. He raises his personal device, The Glove and directs a Scramble projectile and at Dr Manhattan. The shot just clips its target. Dr Manhattan’s raised anvil hand slowly descends before stopping short… in defeat! Thanks to the brave actions and flawless ranged attack of one small spider monkey, the ARC team are victorious!
Image

End of the game (Turn 6 – the ultimate turn)
Final score: ARC 10 – Watchmen 2
Baskinders had succeeded in the Destroy Evidence and The Hand Off but had failed to keep the Silk Spectre alive (This One Must Survive, not one but two explosives!).
Felstorm had the Quest token in the deployment zone, had failed one and succeeded the other Trapped in Wreckage Agendas and had also kept the master Saboteur Lemur alive.

Cracking game against Baskinders as always. Big thanks to K-Nucks and Roboxt for their assistance and supreme tactical advice during the game.

Go Pulp City!

Great conclusion to this epic report! Love that Virus got the final kill, nice to see the little guy do something big.

Couple little rules thing I noticed.

1) Chimp-Chi can't start within 6" of an Object (aka the Quest Token).

2) Harrier can't throw a car, her :STR is only 4, you need a :STR 5 to throw a car. Even with +1 to Opposed Roll doesn't boost her actual Trait value.

Minor little things but just figured I'd mention them.

Loved this battle report. Can't wait to see what else you guys get up to.

Cheers BM!

Didn't realize that about little chimp chi, would made a bit of a difference but still a cool fun game! And yeah we agreed after the game when checking the flying rules that Harrier probably couldn't throw the car, just cause she flying doesnt mean she can suddenly bench press more :). Thanks for the heads up.

We've got a two table, four player game happening tomorrow, one table is the city above and one is the sewers below and they'll be running concurrently, so we'll see how that all works out, should be crazy . We'll have the report up in the next week or so.
