Basing Basing!

Image
(Skyline on his 'low-rise' Base)

Tonight I have been re-doing some bases, in my obsessive efforts to have things "Look How I Want Them To" (it's drives Linda mental) - tonight I have focused on Skylines base.

I was never really happy with it, it lacked the impact that the Model had - so I wanted to improve on it.

I've taken a MaxMini.eu Twighlight Rooftop Base, squared off the 'chimney' and re-sculpted the brickwork. Then I re-did the rough weeds/moss growing around the edges making it more overgrown and shaggy. I also did this around the 'stem' where it meets the base area.

Lastly I had sculpted an extra 'layer' for the bottom of Skylines Gargoyle out of Miliput in advance, I carved/filed/re-shaped it so as to proved a joining section between the Gargoyle and the chimney-stack/rooftop.

I'm quite happy with it (much happier than with the crappy plain base I did before) - hopefully after Dads myriad of tests tomorrow, I can get Harrier finished and Skylines new base painted.

Pictures soon!

Sovereign really looks cool! A nice variation from the other colour choices I've seen before!

Thanks CBV!

Yea, there wass a British Regiment that had Green Trim on their Red Coats - so it actually works on more than one level too!

Well think of those prepped Ulthar as a boon maybe; you have them ready for when you have the time, and i am sure they will turn out great. :)

Which Ulthar are prepped?

That is some prep! :D

Any thoughts on unifying schema or are you going a more individual route (I ask because when I look at my own Ulthar my Taurus does not really match the theme that I ended up evolving)?

FLASH Ah-Ah!

I am using a lot of metalic colours on the clothes/robes, for a totally Retro-Feel (there's something about Aquarius that screams Ming at me) with a slightly paler more muted green on the skin.

So Aquarius will be Metalic Reds and Golds.

The Gemini Twins will be Satiny Blacks and Golds.

The rest will be Metalic Reds, Blacks, and Golds.

It's different, and (hopefully) will help make them look more Alien.

Sounds like great plans foe the Ulthar.
Looking forward to seeing them

Been WAY to tired to paint today - caught up on chores and paperwork today.

Going to try and finish Skylines new base tonight.

It's been a reasonable weekend actually -

Lindas Birthday Friday, she loved her presents.

Read Action Comics 1-8 thoroughly (and immensely enjoyed them too),glanced through a few others - the only one of the New 52 I'm not sure of is Animal Man (which would be a shame as I loved the character before).

I've cleaned up and undercoated some more Pulp City.

Spent the afternoon on Sunday with the Grandkids doing an Easter-Egg Hunt in their Garden.

I also managed to do a little more work on the Red Baron(s) - head and hat are sculpted, going to leave that part set for a few days then make a mold so I can produce two identical heads/hats.

Lastly, "Commander Positron" is ready to go! Finished, ready to be undercoated! I cheated a little, I had already done the bulk as a 'not' Flash Gordon. I've done two heads as well, and magnetized the neck so he can either be bare-headed or wear a Helmet!

Pictures Soon!
