Anyone else think with everyone getting their Kickstarters that it has been far too long since our last mini exchange?

I'd be up for it, as always! I love the minis I got from the last ones.

Maybe once the kickstarter is completely shipped? We wouldn't want to hold it when Beermonkey and Pulpcitizen are too busy and unable to join in.

You know I'm in. I agree with CBV that it should launch once the KS has shipped. Should be able to start packing very soon now!

What is a mini exchange and how does it work?

To put it simply we are given a person to paint a mini for. You discuss with them what you would like in the way of a model, they then paint it and send it to you. Meanwhile you are given someone who you will paint a model for. In this way everyone is getting a model painted by someone else. It's fun, builds community and helps inspire painting and sharing.

It's been a lot of fun. Even if you are not the worlds best painter it encourages you to go above and beyond for someone else. We also set deadlines and encourage you to share progress and techniques here on the boards to help others.

Sometimes the painter makes the choice as a surprise for the recipient too. :)

Very true, in fact given that myself, Leon, and Maciej own all the models the surprise is a lot of fun for us.

It should also be mentioned that conversions and custom stuff is encouraged as well.

It sounds very nice!
Just that I understand it right: I send a mini to an other forum member. That member paints the mini and send it back.
Meanwhile I'm also paint a mini for somebody.

right??

Not quite. You buy and paint a model and sent it to Mr Pink. Mr. Pink paints a model for Mr. Brown. Mr. Green buys and paints a model for you. Something along those lines. Most of us will contact the person we are painting for and asks what model you would like or a theme. But it's a lot of fun and everyone gets a painted model out of it.

What minis are used is really between painter and the person receiving them. :)
