They sound pretty interesting. Are they meant to allow you to use all sorts of other models as minions?

Yes and yes. The final version is slightly altered, with some extra options, but not massively so.

Welcome to the board, by the way! :D

The BOOM rules are currently official- they just aren't in the current rulebook.

Yes, the BOOM rules will be in the new edition.

Yes, you can use all sorts of other models as minions. :)

So the rules for building minions in the gencon rules set seem to a little bit diffrent from what im seeing in this thread. Which one is most current?

Second the not just a punching bag power seems to be horribly overpowered. For 2 resource points you can get 6 base minions that provide you with 3 more ap a round. Granted with stats of 2 and no attack actions they arent doing anything else but who cares. 2 resource points for 3 ap a round is way better than most non exclusive options.

Now since these minions will die really really easy and their benefits dont require you to ever activate them you hide them off in a corner where your opponent has to go through your team to get to them. If youve got a cyberhead you can make them mechanical so you can command them back in that corner. This makes it worth making them slow so that you can give them the sacrifice power for even more ap boost when you need it.

This is all from the gencon rules. If this is legal I think its underpriced. One of the balancing factors ive seen and liked on alot of ridiculous combos is the fact that there simply arent enough action points to power them in smaller games and do anything else (like move). This just blows that apart.

The GenCon rules are the most recent/current rules. So go with those when in doubt.

More Than Punching Bags has been changed and you are only allowed to take that upgrade ONCE in any given team. So you can have 3 minions with it max. Still a good power but we won't see anyone breaking the system. The rest of your tactics in regards to the power are legal, smart, and allowed. So go for it.

No problem. Our first Tourney at GenCon someone took 6 cards full of More than Punching Bag minions. Morf and I looked at each other and said, nope, not gonna happen again. Print version of the book will have this fix.

one newbie-question to the Boom rules.if you select the Big upgrade for
a more model card, the upgrade counts for all models right?

No such thing as a newbie question - all questions are welcome!

Big affects all Minions on the card. :)

Unlikely; 50mm bases are probably going to be reserved to Supremes - they are the 'stars' after all. :)

No Supremes with 50mm bases yet, but as for the future...? 8)

Currently everyone is on 30mm or 40mm, except Giant Hadron and Monsters on 80mm.
