I just now noticed Champions Online is now free to play through Steam.

I'm going to download it and see how it plays on the my aging computer.

Anyone else still playing?

With my time trying the Champions Online Trial, I wasn't very impressed due to my past in playing MMOs such as DCUO and World of Warcraft...but the world was lively with players a month or two ago. So I must have just missed something.

City of Heroes will also be relaunching as Free to Play later this year. Champions online doesn't do much in creation, since you can only be a hero, but City of Heroes lets you pick sides and even create lairs if I remember correctly. I do love the art style for Champions though...

Good thing they're both going to be Free to Play so I don't have to make that decision! :)

I played City of Heroes for over a year and enjoyed it a lot.

It was the one and only pay to play game I ever participated in. I was living in a two bedroom apartment with my mother-in-law at the time.

Had a fun time, met a bunch of cool people, enjoyed the characters I made, etc. The mission scenery got repetitive real fast, though.

It was my escape from real life. :D
